“She wasn’t doing a thing that I could see, except standing there leaning on the balcony railing, holding the universe together.”
J.D. Salinger, A Girl I Knew

Holding my universe together…
She’s the one that drew a picture of me and her every day for the first week of pre-school last year.

She’s the one that makes me presents, little bundles of paper and tape; when I travel, when I’m at a meeting, when I’m cooking, when I’m sitting outside drinking wine with a friend..she surprises me with gifts.

She’s the one that drew her and I on the school bus at kindergarten orientation.

She’s the one that cares what I think, wonders what is next, asks why I do and why things are so. She is confident in her decisions and deliberate with who receives her affection. She won’t smile for the crowd but will shine for the few that really matter.
Grow your world, discover your universe but always keep me in it, even if I have to move to the side, take a step back or hide in a corner. Just keep me there.
