At Hollywood Vibe regionals in Norfolk Lucas received a Team Vibe Scholarship qualifying him for Nationals. With additional recognition from faculty choreographers and an opportunity to audition for the LA Agency scholarship we decided to pack our bags and head to California once more.

Arriving in LA in the late morning gave us time to hit some of our favorite spots and enjoy some delicious eats before we drove out to Anaheim for the convention.

Coming to Nationals presents a lot of unique opportunities for the dancers but it’s tough traveling to a nationals without your team. This year Sophia and Sandy came, and all you need is one more mom to have Dance Moms.

Lucas’ solo Ultralight Beam placed 4th in the Senior Open category and 9th for overall Senior solos, performing better than at regionals!

At regionals Lucas received an Artistry Scholarship which gave him the opportunity to work with multiple choreographers and dancers from all over the country to create this video project. They learned the choreography and shot the video all in less than 90 minutes.

Lucas competed for Dancer of the Year which required additional auditions and also gave him an opportunity to perform in a group routine in the closing show. His first time competing he placed in the top 20.
Throughout the week he got to know the faculty even better, working with them on the Artistry Scholarship, the Dancer of the Year rehearsals, the Vibe Company audition and through the many hours of classes. Being there without his studio was hard but he quickly found a friend and made more and found the perfect balance of independence and support. David Moore, hip hop choreographer, took notice of Lucas at regionals and remembered him at Nationals. Lucas got to perform David’s combo with him at the end of class.

As part of the scholarship he received at regionals, he was invited to audition for Vibe Company at Nationals. Vibe Company was designed to bring out the best in each dancer with more individual attention and coaching from an All-Star Faculty. Dancers experience all aspects of a touring dance convention while enhancing their dance education and establishing important contacts in the dance world. Company members serve as dance assistants and role models while also expanding their performance opportunities. Three weeks after Nationals Hollywood Vibe announced their Senior company for the 2023-24 season.

Always a goal, I am beyond happy, proud and amazed it has been achieved!
