The rooftop at The Met has been transformed into an elaborately staged dinner party by Argentinian artist Adrian Villar Rojas. The Theater of Disappearance encompasses thousands of years of artistic production over several continents and cultures, creating detailed replicas of nearly 100 objects from The Met collection. Each object has been 3D scanned and digitally composed together then either CNC milled or 3D printed. The idea for the site-specific installation came from The Met’s early history, when plaster casts of masterpieces were shown before the real artifacts were acquired.
