“anxious, tired, excited”

It is easy to remember the first time you tried your favorite restaurant, your 21st birthday, your child’s first step, a first day of school. It is easy to remember how we felt when our first child was born, when we first fell in love, when we’ve been stricken by grief. What is not easy to remember are all the moments in between that create our days, strung together creating our life. For every spectacular moment there are about one hundred regular moments. These are the moments that fill our days, that mark the passing of time, that are just as critical in shaping and defining who we are.
Leigh is 39 weeks pregnant, expecting her third child, her first son. 39 weeks pregnant means she is struggling to get through each day, caring for her two young children while physically supporting her third child. 39 weeks pregnant means she is anxiously anticipating each day, waiting for her son to arrive.
When he arrives the world will change. They will be a household of five and remembering life with only two children will be impossible. But for two years and nine months they were.

“A sister is a gift to the heart, a friend to the spirit, a golden thread to the meaning of life.”
– Isadora James

“Being happy isn’t having everything in your life be perfect. Maybe it’s about stringing together all the little things.”
– Ann Brashares
In our children we see each day written on a new milestone, a new boo boo, a new word, a new song, a new expression, a new emotion. We marvel at how much they’ve changed in a week, a month, a year and we long to remember, to go back.
Susan, you have a gift, you are a narrator, a beautiful storyteller! Thank you for this glimpse into my everyday, it has opened up my eyes and inspired me. Thank you for recording this special time xoxo.
