24Seven is our Convention team’s second convention of the season. In Pittsburgh, we compete against studios we don’t usually see in the DMV area. The talent was fierce and the environment new but our dancers still shined showcasing the musicality and storytelling that are strengths to our studio.
Studio Showcase Winner & 11 O’Clock Winner: EZ2
EZ2, our teen hip hop routine won the Studio Showcase giving them the opportunity to perform again in the closing show. I was so happy and proud for Penny and all the girls in this routine.
11 O’Clock Winner: Angels

Lucas’ solo placed 7th out of all the senior soloists.
Lucas was selected as a Non-stop Dancer Runner-Up.

Lucas’ senior year and 18th birthday has been dominated by dance. With no time to celebrate at home, we took the party on the road. After a long day of competition and classes, I was grateful to have all the dancers and parents gather for a surprise celebration.

After the party, the fun continued with a late night run for milkshakes.
While Lucas and Penny were competing in Pittsburgh, Oliver attended Monsters, a hip-hop only dance convention right here in Reston. For a kid that barely wanted to be seen to now leaning into his training and looking for more opportunities to grow, I was so proud.
Not only did he learn and grow, he was recognized with a scholarship!
It’s easy to complain about the exorbitant costs of dance, the demanding schedules, the dynamics and drama and the endless driving, but I love it. The community that we’ve built as a family, the confidence they’ve gained, the outlet for nerves and fear and doubt and expression and creativity and love, to be able to witness each of my children’s journeys during these transformative teenage years and to have all the time with them on these demanding weekends and long drives will be a touchstone of our lives.
